Casalasco, the first food company to gain the social foodprint certification

Casalasco, the first food company to gain the social foodprint certification

Starting from today Pomì “Social Footprint” is available for all the range of products

Also for 2016 Pomì, brand owned by Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro, confirms itself as a forefront leader for transparency and sustainability, gaining a new important certification: Social Footprint – Product Social Identity (SFP), a real “social map” of each product included in the range Pomì. The Company, which closed 2015 with a turnover of c.a. 250 million Euros, is the first in the Italian food sector to achieve this one-of-a-kind certification.

The SFP-product social identity is an auditing scheme, developed by certification bodies like Bureau Veritas, with which Consorzio Casalasco del pomodoro – Pomì has reached the AAA high level.

Basing on a set of indicators, the Company has mapped and calculated its own social footprint focusing on human resources and has undertaken to monitor such indicators together with its partners.

Thanks to Social Footprint the Company is able to share with its consumers the information about the social impact of a product all along the supply chain, from the field to the finished product. This is possible through the mapping and quantification of tomato raw material suppliers, ingredients and packaging, and through the enhancement of own human resources in terms of numbers, working conditions, education and gender equality. This allows the consumer to choose a product with more and more awareness, also considering “human” aspects.

The Social Footprint certification is a further step in the already constant commitment of Pomì and Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro to sustainable agriculture, a challenge and a serious, daily and concrete responsibility.

In particular, the new certification brings a greater exhaustiveness to the information already available on Pomì Trace, the system allowing consumers to trace Pomì poducts: connecting to the brand website (www.pomionline.it) and entering lot and hour of production reported on the pack, it is possible to trace the whole production chain back until the farm which has cultivated the tomato contained in the product. Always on the websites of Consorzio – pomionline.it and ccdp.it – the consumer can view the results of the Social Footprint certification by consulting the SFP labels of each product in the range.
