DECALOGUE FOR SUSTAINABILITY OF THE CASALASCO TOMATO CONSORTIUM

The farms that are members of the Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium and/or that supply tomatoes, peas and basil to Casalasco:

• They respect human rights, workers' rights, and work safety regulations. These requirements are periodically verified by an independent third party;
• They are all certified according to an international sustainability/good agronomic practices standard: GLOBALG.A.P., GLOBALG.A.P. GRASP, ISCC+, FSA;
• They cultivate and harvest the product by mechanical means while respecting the rights of agricultural workers;
• They apply communication and management systems in case of violations of rules and rights;
• They protect product quality and are committed to achieving the high standards set by the Casalasco Tomato Consortium;
• They apply the integrated production regulations of the Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium, which is more selective than legal regulations, to protect the environment and the health of the producer and the consumer;
• They guarantee the traceability of their productions by keeping information relating to the entire crop cycle of the products: seed variety, date of transplant, harvest, defense interventions, against weeds and irrigation interventions, distribution of fertilizers, control analysis;
• They use certified non-GMO seeds, to guarantee varietal purity, germinability and the absence of pathogenic organisms;
• They apply good agricultural practices to protect sustainability and to rationalize the use of productive factors: efficient irrigation techniques to protect water resources, conservative tillage, correct management of agricultural waste, monitoring of pathogens and soil monitoring for a correct analysis of needs;
• They preserve biodiversity, implementing regenerative agriculture practices such as: crop rotation, maintenance and protection of ecological corridors for the benefit of native fauna, planting of hedges, cultivation of green manures and honey species for the repopulation of bees.

Farms comply with all applicable mandatory and voluntary regulations; they are managed with transparency and integrity, according to good management models.

They provide training and communication to staff to comply with this Decalogue.
