The Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium recently published its fourth Sustainability Report for the past financial year.

As usual, in addition to the economic data already presented (350 million euros in consolidated revenues and 570,000 tons of processed product with 70% of sales for export), the 2021 Sustainability Report contains many other indicators ESG related to the supply chain, quality, environment, and worker safety, health, and rights whose number rose to 1,100, reaching over 1,800 employees during the tomato campaign.

The increase itself in employment is among the most significant indicators, showing a hiring rate of 9.1% compared to 5.6% in the previous year, with an overall increase in female presence and in the number of foreign workers (+6%) from various European and non-European countries.

From an environmental perspective and to reduce the impact of indirect emissions, starting in 2021, 99% of the purchased electricity is certified as originating from renewable sources (Guarantee of Origin GO); there was also a improvement in water intensity indicators, which confirm the path of strengthening its water rationalization and recovery systems implemented across all production sites.

The company has also worked to reduce waste through improved production processes, thereby recording a 25% decrease in this figure compared to 2020, despite an increase in production volumes. This was made possible by the recycling and waste management initiatives implemented by the company.
Also, investments in innovation, research, and development have been central to the company's growth plan, with an 11.6% increase compared to the previous year.

From a social perspective, in 2021, the company continued to support local non-profit organizations and reception communities through financial donations or the distribution of food products to assist people in situations of social vulnerability.
