Casalasco: record tomato campaign with 880,000 tons contributed, +10% over 2025

Casalasco confirms its position as Italy's leading operator in tomato preserves, with a cutting-edge integrated supply chain in a season severely impacted by climate change.

16 October 2026

The Casalasco Group closes its 2026 tomato harvesting and processing campaign with 880,000 tons delivered in 79 days, 10% more than in 2025.

The campaign involved 800 farms affiliated with the Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium and approximately 2,000 people (both permanent and seasonal), working in the Group's five factories located in the provinces of Cremona, Parma, and Piacenza.

The early start of harvesting and 79 days marked by often critical weather conditions, with record peaks in temperatures and at the same time hailstorms in some areas, required strong coordination between the agricultural and industrial components. In this context, the investments made over the years, technical assistance, precision agriculture tools, drip irrigation systems developed to promote optimized water resource management, and plant organization have proven crucial to achieving this major achievement.

«A very positive result and far from a given considering the context in which it occurred," comments Costantino Vaia, CEO of Casalasco –this is further confirmation of the solidity of our integrated supply chain model capable of supporting high levels of quality and productivity”.

Alongside the significant volumes processed, the campaign also recorded excellent results on the product quality front.

The 2026 campaign results strengthen Casalasco's positioning as an integrated agro-industrial platform, capable of managing all the different phases of the supply chain and offering its customers high quality standards, operational reliability, continuity of supplies, development of customized solutions, and commitment to improving its environmental performance. In particular, in 2025 Scope 1 and 2 emissions, calculated according to the market-based criterion, decreased by 39% compared to 2022 and 100% of the electricity purchased came from certified renewable sources. Also noteworthy are the activities implemented by the Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium's agricultural base in regenerative agriculture and the development of technologies aimed at optimizing water resource use. Solid foundations, on which to continue the growth path started with the entry of the new partner FSI, in support of the development and competitive strengthening of Casalasco in national and international markets.
