Following the great success of the educational campaignThe adventures of Pomì and Dori: the tomato supply chain between sustainability and healthy eating”, which involved as many as 300 classes in the provinces of Cremona, Mantova, Parma, and Piacenza during the 2022-2023 school year for a total of 7,500 pupils aged 6 to 10, for the new school year that has just started, Casalasco S.p.A. with Pomì launches the second edition of the project, developed and managed once again by Neways, a communication company specializing in educational projects.

The new edition features 401 classes from 84 Primary Schools in the provinces of Milan and Rome, for a total of almost 8,000 students and their teachers.

The initiative aims to playfully introduce children to the world of healthy and sustainable eating, focusing on the tomato supply chain. The topics covered in the paper educational kit, intended for each class participating in the initiative, are in line with Law 92/2019 which introduced the cross-curricular teaching of Civic Education in schools, which also includes the topic of the right to health and personal well-being, and therefore food education. Specifically, it delves into the unique characteristics of the tomato plant and its varieties, the 100% Italian supply chain and environmental respect, and the central role of tomatoes in the Mediterranean Diet.

In addition to the project's cover letter addressed to the reference teacher, the educational kitwill include: a booklet and corresponding verification sheet, twenty-five certificates of participation, educational games and a poster to display in the classroom or on the school bulletin board. What's more, each participating class will receive a generous Pomì kit for a total of 10,000 cartons of tomato passata for all students and teachers.

Students, either with their teacher or individually, also have the opportunity to participate in the Class Contest, to be held in Spring 2024, by creating an artistic piece that must follow a predetermined theme, using the project's key characters who guide the children throughout the educational journey. Groups are expected to illustrate the journey of Pomì and Dori through all stages of the tomato production chain, from sowing to product packaging. From all submissions, we will select 4 winners who will win a comprehensive motor skills kit for the entire school.
