The Po River Path, from Monviso to the Po River Delta” is a route of over 600 km along the banks of the Great River, starting from Pian del Re and ending in Pila. The path is divided into four areas, reflecting the evolutionary stages of the Po: its birth (from Pian del Re to Turin), development (from Turin to Cremona), maturity (from Cremona to Ferrara), and transformation (from Ferrara to Pila). The route, which crosses Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Veneto, can be undertaken on foot, by bicycle, or in a wheelchair.

In fact, "The Po River Path" was designed by theAmateur Sports Association "Il Cammino del Po" – APS, thanks, among others, to the support of Pomì as main sponsor, to the contribution of the Community Foundation of the Province of Cremona and to the collaboration of ANMIC Cremona.
This is a project idea accessible to everyone: individual walkers, whether experienced or not, families with children, groups of young people, seniors, and people with disabilities. The flat terrain it covers makes it particularly suitable for a varied and diverse audience, avoiding the accessibility constraints often associated with hills and mountains. The underlying idea of this project is to prioritize the needs of "non-professional" walkers, including those with reduced mobility, over those of experienced walkers. The route features particularly evocative itineraries, inspired by the typical naturalistic paths of the Great River.

The Po Walk is a project that uses "walking" as a means to convey numerous messages in line with the action program for sustainable development of Agenda 2030, including:

  • the rediscovery of the added value of non-competitive sports and a healthy lifestyle that respects the relationship between people and the environment;
  • the design of an inclusive multi-stage route, suitable for all ages and also designed for children and people with disabilities;
  • the proposal of a sustainable and local tourism "product," thus in harmony with the environment, the community, and local cultures;
  • the enhancement of the territory along the Po with its traditions, history, and artistic heritage;
  • the adoption of a bottom-up methodological approach involving the local community along the route to enhance its skills, services (public and social private), and commercial activities so that residents also benefit;
  • the awareness that achieving one's goals requires commitment, study, effort, passion, and the right amount of fun, and that one's limitations can be transformed into extraordinary strengths... as Andrea Devicenzi, Paralympic athlete - mental coach and team member, demonstrates to us daily.
