Also for 2016, Pomì, a brand owned by the Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro, confirms its position as a leading pioneer in transparency and sustainability by obtaining a new and important certification: Social Footprint – Product Social Identity (SFP), a true "social map" for each product in the entire Pomì range.
The consortium company, which closed 2015 with a turnover of approximately 250 million euros, is the first in Italy in the food sector to obtain this certification, unique in its kind.
The SFP-product social identity is a certification scheme developed by certification bodies, including Bureau Veritas, with which Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro – Pomì has achieved the advanced AAA level. Through a set of indicators the company has mapped and calculated its social footprint with a focus on human resources and is committed to monitoring the indicators by involving its partners.
Thanks to the Social Footprint, the company is able to share with consumers information regarding the social impacts of a product throughout the entire supply chain, from field to finished product, by mapping and quantifying suppliers of raw tomato material, ingredients, and packaging, as well as by valuing its human resources in terms of numbers, working conditions, education level, and gender equality, thereby enabling consumers to make increasingly informed choices about a product, also considering its "human" aspects.
The Social Footprint certification adds to the already constant commitment of Pomì and the Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro regarding sustainable agriculture, a serious, daily, and concrete challenge and commitment.
In particular, the new certification more comprehensively completes the information available through Pomì Trace, the system that enables traceability of Pomì branded products for all consumers: by connecting to the brand's website (www.pomionline.it) and by entering the lot number and time of production found on the PACK, it is possible to trace the entire production chain all the way back to the farm that cultivated the tomatoes contained in the purchased product.
Also on the Consortium's reference websites – pomionline.it and ccdp.it – consumers can view the results of the Social Footprint certification by consulting the SFP labels of each product in the Pomì range.
