Altroconsumo Test: De Rica Polpa Pronta Among Products of Excellent Quality

Altroconsumo announced the results of its tomato pulp test which involved 20 mass-market products, compared based on label information, value for money, and, of course, taste.

Among the top-rated pulps, judged to be of excellent quality , De Rica's takes third place with its De Rica Ready Pulp.

The Quality Test

For the evaluation, Altroconsumo considered a precise set of parameters: primarily the data reported on the label, starting, of course, from those required by law, up to additional consumer information, such as the quantity of tomato used, consumption and storage methods, etc.

Another evaluation factor was the laboratory analyses, which checked for the presence of mold or pesticides, salt or any impurities, and assessed the product's drained weight.

The quality of the tomato was naturally another element evaluated, with factors such as sugar percentage, dry residue, lactic acid, and pH; additionally, consideration was given to the packaging, the type of material used for the packaging, instructions for proper disposal, and the weight of the waste.

Last but not least, the taste evaluation: the pulps were tasted, raw and anonymously, by a group of regular consumers, who were asked to consider factors such as aroma, taste, visual appeal, and product consistency.

De Rica products thus confirm their reputation for quality and taste, in line with the best Italian tradition.
